Budget scrutiny
The Hampshire Chamber scrutinises Hampshire County Government budget and public-finance business within the competence assigned to it. Financial scrutiny is a parliamentary accountability function and is distinct from HCG’s responsibility for preparing and administering Government finances.
How scrutiny can be recorded
Where formally established, budget scrutiny can generate Government documents laid before the Chamber, committee evidence and reports, questions, debates, motions, amendments, votes and other procedural records. Each product remains owned by the institution that creates it.
Authority
The precise authority for taxation, supply, expenditure authorisation or another financial decision must come from the applicable constitutional and legal arrangements.
