About petitions
A parliamentary petition is a formal way for the public to ask the legislature to consider a matter within its competence where an authorised petitions procedure permits it. A petition is different from a general enquiry, complaint or call for evidence.
What a petitions procedure must establish
Before petitions can be accepted, the competent Chamber authority must establish the procedure, including who may petition, admissibility rules, required information, how petitions are lodged, how they are considered, how decisions are recorded and what information is published.
No petition service is currently open
There is currently no authorised public petition submission service. This page will not accept or imply a petition until the formal procedure exists.
